When it comes to churning out an unending array of award winning cars and trucks, at Mike Goldman Customs “it’s all in the family.” That’s because patriarch Mike Goldman, matriarch Sherry Goldman, son Talbert Goldman, and “adopted” longtime team member David Kindard are the driving force behind this Meridian, MS shop’s penchant for always hitting a home run every time they’re up to bat.
Mike Goldman has always been an avowed gearhead, starting his hot rod odyssey in his early teens by building a ’55 Chevy and continuing to build hot rods in one form or another ever since. After he left school Mike joined his father’s trucking business eventually winding up owning and running his own trucking company, all the while continuing in his spare time to feed his passion for building hot rods. When someone made him an offer for his trucking company he just couldn’t refuse, Mike and his wife Sherry took the opportunity to open their own hot rod shop, Mike Goldman Customs, and they’ve never looked back.
Because Mike had built up quite a reputation for his jaw dropping hot rods that he was building on the side, he and Sherry had customers knocking on their door from the very first day they opened for business. In fact Mike and Sherry take great pride that despite the ups and downs of the economy over the 25 years their shop has been open, they’ve always had customers waiting in line vying for an open slot at their shop.
Mike and Sherry’s son Talbert showed early signs of his Dad’s gear head DNA too, learning how to weld and also handle most of the shop’s metal working tools by age 10. He was so proficient by age 14, his Dad felt confident enough to let Talbert work on his own personal pride and joy - a “32 Ford three window coupe. It wasn’t too long before Talbert began working at the shop full time, and today at 29 his Dad credits Talbert with keeping the shop at the forefront of the newest trends and innovations in the hot rod industry. A testament to this family’s tradition of creating some of the most highly acclaimed builds in all of hot rodom is the fact that none other than GoodGuys selected Mike Goldman Customs to build their 2015/2016 GoodGuys giveaway car - a ’32 high boy roadster. As everybody knows, GoodGuys selects only the very best of shops to award this prestigious high profile project to!Read More
