Big Gets Bigger

When I say big, I am talking about nearly 6,000 hot rods, customs and classics that have descended on Columbus Ohio to mark a near record breaking GoodGuys Nationals. Huge show, huge day, I had to really hustle to get it all in. Two rides reigned supreme today, and the competition was tuff, it was the best of the best here today vying for the coveted titles of Street Machine of the Year and Street Rod of the Year

And the winners are….

Street Machine of the Year 2011 – The Innovator, a ’67 Nova created at the Roadster Shop right in our neck of the woods, Mundelein Il. It is a progressive, futuristic styled ride. Over 95% of this ride is scratch built. It is certainly a one of a kind and well deserving of the title of Street Machine of the Year.

The Street Rod of the Year 2011, the ’32 Ford owned by Phil Beckett built out of the Fast Lane Rod Shop. This was a labor of love and a joint creation Fast Lane building this ’32 and Phil closely monitoring the progress. Congrats Phil.

Although there was a lot going on with the 2 big awards there were about 5,900 other rides out today that all were worth a second look. Have a look at some of the “other Guys” out there today.

On top of all that, if you can imagine, there was also AutoCross.

One more day here in Columbus with lots to see.
