Builders Showrooms “Pick of the Week” Goolsby Customs

This week’s Builders Showrooms “Pick of the Week” is brought to you by Goolsby Customs. Way down south in the land of Alabam, Goolsby Customs is turning out some of the most outstanding custom cars on the show circuit today. The home garage, “customizing anything he could get his hands on” passion of Johnathan Goolsby evolved into a professional shop that has been creating incredible rides for 12 years The quality workmanship and cutting edge design elevate Goolsby Customs cars to a whole new level and those builds don’t go unnoticed. From the get go Johnathan Goolsby, Josh Henning and crew have been earning widespread recognition for their incredible builds and have been raking in the awards for their efforts. To date they have; a Mothers Shine Award, Muscle Machine of the Year, GoodGuys Trendsetter, SEMA GM Design and have been finalists for Street Machine, Street Rod and Muscle Machine of the Year and that’s just to name a few. And this past January, none other than Goolsby Customs muscle car builder extraordinaires were among the finalists for the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award at the Grand National Roadster Show. Yep this shop is not a one trick pony. Not only do they turn out some of the most incredible high tech cutting edge design forward muscle cars on the road, their latest a ’32 Roadster “Time Merchant” was in the running for the AMBR. They didn’t drive away with the top prize but had quite a few other awards to pack into “Time Merchant’s” custom oakwood bed. The Goolsby team won; the Pete Chapouris Memorial award, the Outstanding Engine award, Outstanding Paint award, Outstanding Undercarriage award, and the AMBR Achievement Award. Holy smokes, not a bad weekend at all – huh.

The “Time Merchant” rolled into life as a 1932 Brookville roadster, 68 years later team Goolsby worked their magic and transformed the rather modest pick’em up into the smooth as silk, get lost in that metallic sky blue beauty you see below. Fun build detail, Goolsby was faced with the task of blending 2 familial hot rodding traditions. The owner, Matt Gordon a Ford guy, his Dad an Olds man, now put that together. Goolsby Customs seamlessly solved that riddle with an Olds power plant. Bringing modern drivability to this traditional ride – a ’57 380.c.i. rocket V8 was dropped in and the rest is award winning history. In addition “Time Merchant” is slightly channeled and sits on an Alan Johnson chassis. Team Goolsby was on point with perfect Classic Instruments gauges and the choice to add fenders was inspired .

This is a build for the ages, timeless you might say. Now check out this week’s Builders Showrooms “Pick of the Week” – “Time Merchant”.
