As a self proclaimed "broke-ass farm kid", Tim Strange had to learn how to work on everything himself and that "learning out of necessity" set the foundation for his successful future as a premier hot rod builder. A truly "self taught" wrencher, Tim's Dad gave him fertile ground to grow in. Dad was a custom Harley builder who eventually morphed into building rides with four wheels, with Tim helping Dad more and more with each project along the way.
At age 14 Tim purchased his first ride, a '55 Chevy 150 from his great-great grandpa using the $100 he earned from selling his 4-H pigs! By age 16 he'd worked his way up to a '64 Chevelle SS that was a little rough around the edges and also stared working at a local body shop to help fund the changes he wanted to make to his ride. Like most teenagers money was tight so it took him nearly 3 years to get the Chevelle to where he wanted to show it, but ultimately a 19 year old Tim Strange took it to the Street Machine Nationals and believe it or not got the Runner Up award! What does that tell you about his "self taught" capabilities!
Tim Strange and the gang at Strange Motion Rod & Custom are proud to be able to still be working out of the pole barn Tim and his Dad built. Tim Strange is no "Johnny come lately" to the hot rod world, that's for sure; that "broke-ass farm kid " sure has come a long way! Whether it's nostalgia, cutting edge custom, street rod, resto or corner carving g -machine .... Strange Motion can bring dreams to reality from the smallest to the "totally unimaginable."Read More
