Hunnert Car Heads Up 2015

It was heads up racing friends, in fact Hunnert Car Heads Up racing action to be exact. And if it’s Hunnert anything you know it’s gonna be good. The Chrome Czars know how to do, and do it with “Old Skool Kool”. Despite the fact that I arrived at Byron’s Playground of Power via Great Lakes Dragway, sorry for the “detour” Dad, it was a might fine way to spend a Saturday afternoon. It was a trip back in time at the Hunnert Car Heads Up, just the way I love it. Racing the way it used to be, keeping it to traditional standards. Gassers, A/FX cars, hot rods, dragsters, even a couple of customs were blazing down the quarter mile and putting on a spectacular show while at it. For me, the capper was the round robin racing. The random match ups themselves were worth the price of admission, a visual feast. Imagine if you will, a Studebaker vs. a Roadster, a Jeep vs. a Chevy II, pristine Willy’s Gassers pairing up, a front engine dragster vs. a nearly out of control coupe. Oh and there was a pair of “visiting” 442s pulling wheelies, it was the best. I bet you are starting to wish you were there. To top it all off there was a sweet show and shine and a swap meet. You get the drift, this was a fine, might fine day at the track.

Fine as it was, don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourself and I think you’ll agree this was traditional heads up drags at it’s best.

What’s drag racing without video, here are some fo the highlights.

If I had only one thing to say to the crew with the Chrome Czars I would simply say …. Bring back the Pile – Up, PLEASE! Until then though, thank goodness they are keeping the faith with the Heads- Up. Let me tell you, this gal has her fingers crossed that one fine October Sunday she’ll be heading south for the inauguration of the Hunnert Car Pile Up 2.0.

The blue moon of Kentucky will be shining on us this weekend! More vintage drag racing and of course the stars of the show the fine, fine, fine Classics, Customs and Hot Rods that ALWAYS show for GoodGuys! It’s the Nostalgia Nats. and we are heading to one of our favorite spots, Beech Bend Raceway. Stay tuned friends, this one is a goodie.
